Kigali – The nation mourns the passing of Alain Mukuralinda, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, who died on Thursday, April 3, at the age of 55.
Mukuralinda succumbed to a medical complication while receiving treatment at King Faisal Hospital. By the time of this report, an official statement had yet to be released regarding the circumstances of his death.
A distinguished legal professional and a talented musician, Mukuralinda had an illustrious career in public service. Before assuming the role of Deputy Government Spokesperson in December 2021, he served as a National Prosecutor and Spokesperson for the National Public Prosecution Authority, contributing significantly to Rwanda’s justice system since at least 2002.
Born in Kigali in 1970, Mukuralinda pursued his secondary education in economics at Ecole Secondaire de Rwamagana (1984-1990) before advancing his studies in law at the Université catholique de Louvain in Belgium, where he earned his degree in 1998.
Beyond his legal career, Mukuralinda was a passionate musician known for composing iconic songs such as “Tsinda Batsinde,” which cheered on Rwanda’s national football team, Amavubi, the Christmas melody “Gloria,” and the love ballad “Murekatete.” His contributions to the music industry extended to discovering and nurturing young talent.
